Bridgework is performed when a tooth is missing, or in some cases, multiple teeth require replacement. Existing teeth are used as anchors (abutments) to support a bridge framework. The framework can be made of metal or porcelain. We evaluate the lip profile, gum display, condition of teeth adjacent to the spaces that exist, and the number of teeth requiring replacement to determine the bridgework design, or if bridgework is an appropriate restorative solution.
